Happiness lies in contentment

Once upon a time there lived a happy cobbler who spent his days singing and working from morning till night. One of his wealthy neighbors was a banker who one day asked him, “How much do you earn a year?” The cobbler smiled (grin) and said (told), “How much do I earn a year, sir? I never counted that way. I eat day by day. Every day some food comes and I am happy.”

The banker said “I have resolved to save you from want. You take this thousand pounds (wealth), save it carefully and utilize this money when you need to use it.” “The cobbler, who had never seen so much money in his life, hurried home and buried his money in the ground, but alas! He also buried his happiness with it because he could not enjoy a good sleep at night. He had to stay awake all night. He only thought about money. Thus he lost his sleep and happiness.

One day he went to the banker and said that his money had robbed him of sleep. So he asked the banker to take back his money and finally the cobbler returned the money to the banker. Then the cobbler was able to enjoy good sleep, peace of mind and happiness.
